My dissertation topic deals with the analysis of several Scratch projects that were designed by a class of pre-service and in-service US teachers, to find evidence of computational thinking. These students designed these projects for a course they completed at our university. When I tried Dr. Scratch for the very first time back in 2021, I was fascinated by its efficiency and accuracy in determining the computational thinking progress of an individual. You have designed a wonderful application that makes work for academics like me much easier. Due to the ingenuity of the application, I decided to use it for the primary analysis in my dissertation. I was planning to make extensive use of the software after the Spring 2023 semester ended. However, I was not able to get any reports from the application after multiple attempts. I tried pasting the project URL, downloading the project and uploading it into the system and converting the sb3 file to sb2 format using Python and then uploading it into the Dr. Scratch system. None has worked. For example, when I paste the following link in Dr. Scratch, https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/484803855 I get the message, "Error! Your project doesn't exist in Scratch's servers" However, I have double checked and found the project to be present and shared on Scratch. When I uploaded the same project (tried both sb2 and sb3 files), I get a Server Error (500) message. I also got the Forbidden (403) error for a few projects. I have tried at least 10 projects from different semester years (2020-2023), all resulting in one of these error message. Under these circumstances, I wanted to reach out to you to ask if you could provide me with a solution that I can use to analyze Scratch projects using Dr. Scratch for my dissertation. Are current Scratch projects incompatible with the current version of Dr. Scratch? Am I doing something wrong at my end? I understand that Dr. Scratch is still in Beta and functionality is likely to be limited, but any help/suggestion from you will be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully using your wonderful application, Sincerely, Faiaz Rahman Primary Instructor and Graduate Teaching Assistant Department of Psychological and Quantitative Foundations College of Education, University of Iowa 240 S Madison St. Iowa City, IA 52242, USA -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
